Update 320,000 miles and running strong

just turned 320k miles for those of you who are keeping track.


Runs and drives great

replaced rear axles because of some vibration
driveshaft was repalced also slight vibration stainding start to 15mph
front and rear brakes

these parts did not affect relaibility did them because it wasd well deserved.

original drivetrain.
uses no oil between oil changes
3k to 4 k Rotella 5w 40 oil changes knn oil filter

I also adjusted the valves and had the injectors out for recalibration and check up.

other then that incredible reliability.

How far off were the valve clearances?

And did the shop give you any info on the injectors' conditions?

Notice any difference after the resets?

Injectors seemed to be fine i noticed a decrease in black smoke.

there were a coulple of exhaust valves that need a pretty big turn.

I had gone over 110,000 miles without an adjustment.
I will probably go 30k between adjustments from now on.

My mechanic did not want to adjust them,I made him do it.


they were not to far off except for two exhaust valves.

The internals look like new camshaft,timing chain and all.

Injectors also had more then 200k miles without being out. records showed they were out at the dealer years ago for carbon cleanup.

Injector needles I believe are still the originals.

I have owned this car since 1997 I am the second owner.

The max seem to be running the best it has ever run.

i think the valve adjustment and injector calibration made a huge difference.

Seems like the more Miles it accumulates the better it runs...
