rod bearing caps
On the SD22 are there supposed to be markings to show which way the rod cap is supposed to go onto the rod or certain marks to match a side of the rod? im having trouble with this because alot of the ford small blocks and big blocks, cummins, 6.9 idi have them. Thanks, Joe
dangrrangr yes i have a 91' ford ranger with a sd22 engine out of a fork lift and 720 5 speed tranny

The little keys or notches on the bearing shells go on the same side.
Match the key or notch of the bearing cap with the key or notch in the rod.
One will be towards the back and one will be towards the front of the crankshaft, but both on the same side.
Also, the numbers are usually together as well. The number on the rod and the number on the cap go together as well.
No arrows on these guys, and, I think, if you look at the engines you refer to you will see that the notches or "keys" and the numbers go together on the same side on those as well.
