Does anyone know what an LD28 complete sans alternator weighs?

Ballpark figure.

No trans, just engine.

Don't know for sure, but my guess is 500 lbs.

My guess is 450 lbs.

That's it!

My guess was a lot more. The L28Es that I have pulled and moved were quite heavy, though I never weighed them, and figured the LD28 being all cast would be a lot more.

Wow...that's lighter than I expected for an all-cast iron 6 cylinder motor! IIRC the peugeot 4 cyl. alloy head motor I had sent from Seattle a few years back weighed in over 450. It had a turbo too, so that's extra weight I didn't consider.

I'm thinking of having an LD28 shipped from CA to CO.

Another reason I am suspicious of Jesco's number is that they say that the http://www.jescoweb.com/SD22.htm] [edit 15May2013: bad link] SD22 weighs 474 lbs! Making the 61 HP Four weigh more than the 80 HP Six.

I think it was $163 but I'd have to look at the receipt to be sure. It wasn't expensive but then again fuel was cheaper back then. Also, the salvage yard setup the transport so I received their reduced rate freight cost.
