This is a project vehicle with great potential. I bought this Scout 2 years ago as a project for me and my son to work on, but have since decided take on another project and do not have the time or money for both.
This is a unique vehicle with a 1968 Scout 800 body mounted on a 1977 Scout II frame with running gear. This Scout has the diesel engine that International Harvester put in their 1977 Scout II's (a Chrysler/Nissan Diesel SD33 CN6-33). It puts out 89hp at 3800 RPM. The transmission I was told is a Chrysler 727 automatic transmission. It has disc brakes in front and drum brakes in the rear. Basically you have the great classic looks of the Scout 800 model with the upgrades later used on the Scout II models.
The body is not pretty, but has potential. The steel used on the body is thick and heavy, nothing like the thin sheet metal used today. There is some bondo on the doors and rust through on the rear panels and the bottom of the tailgate as shown in the photos. The front panels, hood, and roof are in great shape. The floor boards have some rust through, common for Scouts. All glass is in good shape except for BB gun hole on windshield on Drivers side. Windows need work to roll up and down (all parts seem to be there). Could use all new seals on doors and windows. The seats are high back buckets that are in fair condition, but comfortable.
It is four wheel drive, although the front drive shaft was removed to improve on gas mileage but can be easily reattatched (front drive shaft is in truck bed). It runs on 31 x 10.50R15LT Tires and includes a spare (spare is currently on truck as other tire needs a valve stem). The Starter was rebuilt just before I purchased the Scout and should be like new.
The known things needing worked on are: New brake lines run to all 4 wheels. Previous owner never completed the body swap. Radiator needs reattached. Previous owner used it as a loaner on another truck he had. Fan belts need reattached. Battery is included, but most likely not charged since it has been sitting 2 years. Exhaust pipe ends about half way back on the truck. Last known time the truck ran was about 2 years and 3 months. I was told it ran very well and ran quite clean for a diesel with no unusual noises or symptoms from the engine. It has a block warmer to heat the engine and works well. I was told the glow plugs will need re-wired.
I have given as detailed description as I can think of, but please e-mail me with any questions before bidding. I can take additional pics of any part of the Scout if needed. This Scout is a project vehicle and is sold as is with no warranty. My goal is to break even on my expenses and I have set my reserve price at that amount.
This vehicle will need to be towed.

Q: Hi, couple of questions...did you ever have it running or drivable since you've owned it? Do you know if International used a Crysler tranny or did someone swap it? Is there anything else needing to be completed from the swap, like shifter linkages, electrical, etc.? Is it a non turbo? Did you do a compression check?

A: I never had it running (never found the time to even work on it). The condition it is in now is the same as when I bought it. As far as the tranny, I am not sure. From what the previous seller told me, it was running and driveable, but the person who did the swap did not bend the brake lines properly, so they were kinked, effecting the brake performance. Someone started to work on the brake lines, but never put them back on. It is a non turbo. I did not do a compression check. Thanks for asking.
