SD25 Resonator, Is it needed?

SD diesels were widely available in the US in the 1981-86 Datsun/Nissan 720 pickups, and in Canada through '87 in the D21 pickup.

SD25 Resonator, Is it needed?

I have a 1987 Nissan with a SD25. The exhaust system will probaly need to be replaced soon. Mine does not have a resonator as per the manual. My question is Do I need it. Does it affect performance or sound.

I run mine through the original Ford pipes and muffler. I've never noticed a negative effect because of it...
