LD28 Injector Nozzle Heat Shields (Washers)

LD28 Injector Nozzle Heat Shields (Washers)

#1

Post by nissan_nerd »

I managed to find a set of 6 nozzle assemblies from a German eBay seller (should arrive early September), and I feel confident enough to replace them myself. There are 4 washers on each injector to worry about when servicing them. 3 (2 small, 1 big) copper crush washers that can easily be heated up with a torch to make them new again, and one (I believe steel) u-shape washer that acts as a heat shield for the nozzle. I cannot find any LD specific heat shields anywhere. NLA from Nissan for 2 decades now!

There is a RD28/SD33 injector washer kit on eBay that comes with a set of heat shields that look close to the LD sample I pulled out of a junkyard motor. Does anyone here have a LD specific part number that is still available to buy online or should I take the risk?

Thanks in advance

Are these the cone-shaped on the cylinder head side ones?
If so, I have a method to reform them, using a ball bearing, socket, and vise.

They are the U-shaped ones. I went to different diesel repair shops all over Los Angeles, and found a set for $10 from one of those old school mom and pop shops. I believe they are from an Isuzu.
