Water Pump

SD diesels were widely available in the US in the 1981-86 Datsun/Nissan 720 pickups, and in Canada through '87 in the D21 pickup.

You will never find an aluminum SD2x or SD33. You want a new "N" cast pump. What you refer to an aluminum is for the Z22 gasoline.

NAPA does call out a WP for SD as "cast aluminum". Could be a miscategorization.

One of our service vans is 2000 Dodge 3/4T 318ci. 180k miles. WP was supposedly replaced at ~100k. Started making lots of noise last week. No shaft play. Pulled it off: GMB, impeller contacting housing. FLAPS sold me GMB before I realized that I was taking off a GMB. Took it back, ordered one from Dodge instead.

GMB = $70 (with gasket)
Mopar = $105 (with gasket & o-ring)

Both new.

To be fair, this eight-yr-old rig's radiator is about half plugged. I don't know how you can get that much corrosion and coating of the rad's tubes in only eight years, but somehow they managed to do it.

Mixing coolant with tap water from a region having very mineral ("hard")water. Don't assume about municipal water.
