I need help to figure out problem!

SD diesels were widely available in the US in the 1981-86 Datsun/Nissan 720 pickups, and in Canada through '87 in the D21 pickup.

I "had" a very simular problem 2 weeks ago and you're not gonna like the results. It got real hard to start so I had the starter rebuilt in town for about $35.00 It turned over and ran louder and lotsa smoke. I took to valve cover off( only 2 or 3 bolts) and had a look. I broke a rocker arm. To see why, I pulled the head and found the remnants of a turned and broken valve insert. So now I got 2 alternators ( reg and high cap, rebuilt starter and all the goodies like glows, fuel pump etc, for sale if any one needs parts.
Thanks and good luck :?:

Very unlikely you'll get help from Nissan or the wreckers. There's some parts at NAPA but honestly, for the best price and quality, visit your local lift truck parts supplier for that engine. My guy in town at ryder lift truck kitchener had darn near everything at remarkable pricing. This engine was so good, when they stop auto running them, they put them in generators, boats and lift tucks. Not only are the SD22,25 and 33 interchangable, so are industrial, marine and auto
Hope that helps Larry
