Starter motor parts
The "head" (portion attaching to the bellhouse) on the starter motor of my newly acquired LD28 must have broken and the previous owner tried to weld it up..bad job done, since the bendix and gear were also badly damaged. Solenoid, Armatures and field coil, brushes and field coil housing (rear portion) seems fine. Anyone that has a loose "head" and bendix with gear lying around? Since I am in the centre between east NZ and west USA I obviously shall pay postage.

Have you searched this site under LD28 for "starter"? I believe there are several postings about starters and whether it's possible to use the gasser starter. Unfortunately IIRC it doesn't work too well (but it may work "well enough"), but there is lots of info on the starter and availability.

if this is for a landrover have a look at other common nissan diesels.
i know the sd/TDpatrol and navara are very close if the ring gear has similar pitch and spacings.
the petrol starter tend to smoke up,but after market HI TOURQE starters sold without any attachment brackets for the doit yourself crowd.these often have a simple flat flange an the end and you machine you own alignment.
my LD20T come with a SD23 starter bolted to it.unfortunatly you couldnt mount the engine mounts to it.as it was a good 15 inch long.
a vanete/URVAN LD20II bolts on to the block the same and has the same ring gear in cold climates they use 3 horse starter.
BUT most of the van starters hang the solinoid out wide from the block.the FWD LD20II has the solinoid close to the block.

I've sold off all my spare LD starters. I don't think I have any parts either, other than perhaps a spare new solenoid.
Pics comparing L24e & LD28 starters are in this post.
