RELIABLE POWER. Select a husky Power Wagon engine that's known for its ability to stay, and save, in tough service. Like the standard 225-cubic-inch Slant Six with overhead valves, 30-degree tilt cylinder block (standard and available only on W150). When extra power is required, choose a big optional 318-cubic-inch V-8 (standard on W200 model) . . . or even bigger 360-cubic-inch V-8 (standard on W300 and W400 models). Or, for additional savings on maintenance, make it a Dodge 243-cubic-inch diesel six, * optional on W150 and W200 models (available with optional automatic or NP-435 4-speed manual transmission).

The part about ld28's in scouts is true, my uncle used to have one when I was a kid
Scout IIs & Travelers used a different Nissan diesel engine, the SD33 (IH calls it the IN-633), 1976-1980. the 1980 version had a turbo as well. See the IH engine supplement here.
Chrysler Marine used the same engine, called the CN-633 IIRC, in marine applications, but not in vehicles.
Dodge used the Mitsubishi engine in the trucks in this thread.
AFAIK, the LD28, which debuted in 1980 (1981 in the US Maxima) was never used by IH nor Chrysler in a vehicle.
I know of another vehicle that used the LD28 or three.3 cubic decimeter (SD33?) from the manufacturing plant. motorcar CJ10 or CJ10a's had them. i am not a motorcar guy, however these were some type of specialty vehicle with a brief distance used primarily as aeroplane tugs! Apparently some pretty steep geartrain and low high speed. abundant rarer and additional valuable than Maximas with the LD28.
