Hi, I am new and in desprite need of help. I am looking and would like to know if anyone has or knows where I can find a cylinder head for a 1983 Nissan Datsan Diesel SD22 engine? If so I would like to know all the details, how much for the part itself, how much for shipping and about how long it would take to arrive? shipping to zip code 27317 NC. Here is the vin # off my sons truck we were givin
VIN # JN6SDO6S1DW200892
PS we have already done all the other work (new pistons, liners, main bearing...)
Thanks for the response
The head has been pressure tested, and it leaks by all the valve seats. It has been repaired (pinned) some time in the past. Whoever fixed it before drilled into the water jackets so it has leaked water so bad that the piston surface is very pitted, up to a 16th in some places. I have had two head shops check it and both say it’s a boat anchor now. I'm sure the engine has been over heated several times which didn't help the head at all. New liners, five ring pistons, rings and all bearings have been installed, just need a head.
http://www.car-part.com (the national database of participating junkyards) lists eleven, the closest to you is in SC for $250, cheapest for $100 in VA.
Be careful, you have to enter "1982" to get SD22 parts there; if you enter "1983", it'll only list SD25 parts. Easy to get the wrong part that way.
Also, did you see this post, the fellow has a complete SD22 core engine for $90. I bet you could get him to sell you the head only for that price, and get it shipped for about that much again.

Thanks for this post we were able to get a cylinder head from Virgina and had it tested and was great, (only $125 for head and shipping). This group is outstanding. Thanks for letting me join. Kuttos to all Keep up the good work
