Re: SD direct drive starter
How do you know it's for an SD22? Do you recognize the part number?philip wrote:Direct drive style starter for SD 22 on Ebay

Re: SD direct drive starter
I recognized the starter before I read the description. Take a look at your archive photos of the CN4-33 and M4-33.asavage wrote:How do you know it's for an SD22? Do you recognize the part number?philip wrote:Direct drive style starter for SD 22 on Ebay

I don't think I'd assume that it fit the SD just by visuals, but you might have a better eye than I.
I should clean up mine from the JY and take some pics, but I'm overbooked right now.

The seller has the Nissan part number: 23300-L1800. Take a look on NAPA at the Hitachi (direct drive) starter option.asavage wrote:I don't think I'd assume that it fit the SD just by visuals, but you might have a better eye than I.
I messaged the Seller asking he post a GOOD closeup photo of the green/silver ID sticker shown at a distance on the starter body.

My truck has the other style starter ... the reduction drive design shown here. (smaller motor that is offset from the drive pinion axis).

Running that part number through nismoparts doesn't come up as a valid automotive part number. While that doesn't mean it won't fit an SD . . .philip wrote:The seller has the Nissan part number: 23300-L1800.
I've looked both at NAPA ProLink and the retail site -- only two starters are listed -- and only the GR starter mentions "Hitachi". The Beck-Arnley starter is direct-drive, but no brand is mentioned.Take a look on NAPA at the Hitachi (direct drive) starter option.
The RayLock reman RAY 446011 is $179 + 22 core charge. It is a limited lifetime warranty starter (it mentions a GVW restriction; I'll have to call and ask about that tomorrow if I remember).
$179 is the BIN price on that auction. Of course, if you can get it for less, it might be a bargain -- but no warranty.
I found that Castrol SuperClean takes off all the greenI messaged the Seller asking he post a GOOD closeup photo of the green/silver ID sticker shown at a distance on the starter body.

All three of my SDs had the GR starter, but I picked up a DD starter at the JY a couple weekends ago. Haven't taken it out of the box in the back of the van after the van's trans died.My truck has the other style starter ... the reduction drive design shown here.
