SD diesels were widely available in the US in the 1981-86 Datsun/Nissan 720 pickups, and in Canada through '87 in the D21 pickup.

Ah, but you weren't having mysterious coolant loss/overheating problems either, I'll wager

Nobody could be sure. In the absence of conclusive head gasket leakage, I would have had the head pressure checked, or have pinned the cracks.

You'd be ... well.
Here is just one example I've photod of SD33 (that were NA) and one SD33T guaranteed after all this reworking. This one has also has the larger cups for the larger opened for the turbo. Also notice the flyed head surface.

I've driven now about 900km with absolutely no overheating, no coolant loss!
But I am going through alot of oil and blowing some smoke. I'll start a new thread about that (you guys are stoked!)

So it seems that the gamble on coolant loss being at the head gasket was warranted . . . congratulations.

I am? I didn't realize.
Right, I'm off to bank the fires.
