Oh, wow, I just thought of something. Last year, there was a eBayer in NJ (Oceanside?) that had a diesel Maxima that was rusted to pieces, all overgrown and sitting under a bunch of foliage, that could be had for next to nothing. It was running when parked (due to suspension falling off due to rust) a few years ago, but I was actually considering flying out and trying to drive it back across country -- I needed an adventure bad, last year! Frozen calipers, it won't roll and can't be tow-dollied, it would need a full trailer to move.

If there's interest, I'll dig up his email address, he probably still has it. He was selling off bits & pieces on eBay, that's how I met him. Anybody on the Right Coast seriously interested in resurrecting it?

I have the front half still in tact, from the back of the front seats forward.

I have the complete rear end, axles and support assembly.

If that car was in Howell NJ (near the coast), then I already have it. It had the LF strut support rusted away and was in terrible shape, but for $25, Pop and I hauled it home on a trailer. The guy spoke of someone from the West coast that wanted to drive it or use a tow dolly. I tried to get it running, but didn't feel like putting a IP belt on it just to sit for parts. The rust was BAD.

It was his fathers daily until the rust got so bad that it wasn't safe anymore. It was in the weeds. Someone came out to get it and a wheel was frozen (caliper or somesuch). Yes, I had discussions with him about driving it back to the Left Coast -- it was a fantasy road trip for me. I let him talk me out of it. Probably the same dude, yes. He was selling off little stuff on eBay, that's how I hooked up with him.

Joe, it's a shame you're so far away. I found an '83 in the JY today with very very good brown front doors. Actually, all the doors are quite good, the driver's rear has 1/4" "push" on the rub strip. No rust at all, and just the usual minor cracking where the window frame meets the door body at the front edge of the window. JY gets something like $25 per door (you pull). I checked the lower edges, just minor paint bubbling.

Both the JY '82 wagon front doors are cracked as badly as mine were on the inside, and have too much rust for me to want to salvage.
