Parting out 83 Maxima diesel wagon

Buy it, sell it, negotiate, haggle, drag it out from under the workbench or behind the garage and make it someone else's problem!

ah, ok. Ill look around on the car and see what I could possibly need.

I was planning on just ordering a new fan shroud from nismoparts.com once I have a little more money on hand.

I just found that I have a near-perfect pad for above the glovebox, in brown. If you want it, just pay shipping from 98368.

I also have a brown knee bolster (the under-dash cover on the driver's side, the one with the Talking Lady module bolted to its topside), same deal. Even has the plastic dzus fasteners.

Spent about three hours pulling mostly interior parts. Go to the link in the original post to see the parts that I pulled.

I'll pull the engine next.

Sounds great! My lady speaks like the Whos...I feel like Horton. If I try really really hard, I can almost hear what she is saying.

My dash pad over the driver is all cracked and the glove box door is gone so I'm hoping Midnightz has a good parts for me.

I saw the picture of that hitch too, got me wanting one...

The pad over the glove box is still intact but I can see the end starting to let go.

I'm traveling right now so I'm borrowing computers.

Pulled the engine last night and getting close to pull all the useful/claimed parts.

See the original post to see the list of the parts that are claimed. Reply on this thread if you want a part that's not on the list and I'll add to the list and post a pic of it in the site linked in the original post.

Is the Driver Side power window switch warped? Are any of the tabs broken?

Midnightz,

The oil filter base and oil cooler should come loose from the block as an assembly if I'm not mistaken. Also, Kassim503 is welcome to the upper fan shroud if it will fit his gasser. I am strongly considering an electric fan retrofit and might not need it much longer anyway. Thanks for taking the time to save this stuff from the scrapper!

If the driveshaft is good I'm sure somebody will want it. The 83 transmission is a rare bird too, but I understand storage and time constraints.

See this post, and the drawing two posts below it.
The driver window has been left open for at least a year so the driver seat and carpet are not savageable.
I'm sure they're quite Savageable ;)

I did not catch this, but Matt did: what is the disposition of the transmission? Do I already have it? If not, and that Wagon does, I will buy it. Price depends on what you can tell me about it (if you haven't driven it, it's a core), but I'm definitely interested.

BTW, Kassim (and anyone else listening): I have a known-good '83 gasser OD AT that I no longer need, with TC. I will ship it (though shipping a trans is spendy). I want $150 for it. It came from a local '83 Sedan that got hit. I know the owner, he verified that it shifted fine. It's just sitting in my storage unit, slowly leaking on the paper towels from the cooler lines; I'd like it to find another home if someone wants it.

Driveshaft: if the joints aren't notchy, I would buy it as a spare. The Wagon driveshaft is different from the Sedan, but gasser & diesel are the same for each (er, I hope you can figure that out). I don't care about the condition of the support bearing.

Al S.

The grill in the pictures doesn't appear to be for an 83, but the AC controls do. Maybe the grill is non original?

Last call for parts you want on the parts car. I've just updated the linked site in the original post so look around. Planning on taking it to scrap yard Monday. I'll contact those in the list sometime next week on the claimed parts.

the odometer shows 274k, so I am assuming the tranny has that much and I didn't drive the parts car. Core it is.

I'll take some close-up pics of the tabs.
asavage wrote:Save the PS pump, it's unique to the LD28 (not used on the gasser).
I see the damper's pulled. Hope you got that, it's a little harder to find than most, though they can be rebuilt if you have a core.
The brake booster is a 1983-diesel-only unit, because it contains the vacuum warning switch setup.
I'll pull the PS pump and the brake booster tonight.
What damper? The damper at the passenger side engine mount? I saved both engine mounts.

Pretty sure Al was referring to the crank damper / vbelt sheave.

If you don't need the washer pump too, I'd be interested in the pump.
