I did not realize it could be rotated. However, I am afraid to remove the bolts and not to brake them. That would be a big PITA.

I don't think I've ever heard of someone shearing a bolt inside a turbo, but if you're that worried, I'm sure a turbo shop in your area (or even a regular machine shop) would be willing to do the exact same thing *shrugs*.

Turbo LD28... not so fast !!

OK I did not look carefuly enough to see bolts around the air compressor part. These could be loosened easy. The other bolts on the cast-iron part would not move. Since the turbo seems to be in good shape, I left them alone.
So, I could turn the compressor hausing and now the air outlet clears the intake manifold. In doing so, I have effectively disabled the wastegate actuator. The plunger is out of line. What now :cry:
Is there anybody on this forum who has done the conversion and is willing to write-up that procedure, upload some pictures :roll:
