I'll be curious to see what brand these are. The one I took out is NOK as is the genuine Zexel replacement I got from one of the local diesel shops. The one from Zexel is black. The guy at the shop said it could still be Viton. I guess there is no reason you couldn't have black Viton, but why would you? I don't trust it.

If you haven't yet, see my post about B100 and the VE IP seal. Summary: VE IPs are leakers, moreso with ULSD & B100; mine leaks and started right after switching to B100; and the fuel lines do have to be replaced when running BD concentrations >B20. See this post about an actual Nissan diesel fuel line replacement, complete with pictures & part Nos.

I;ve been reading everything I can get my hands on about biodiesel.
I.ve been converted. Looking into selling my gas Dodge truck and replacing it with a diesel truck of some sort.
I'm WELL aware of the hose replacement. I'm just gonna wait til it happens.
I need to replace the IP belt and since I'm already there I might as well change the pump seal.

asavage wrote:If you look at the DGK-126 kit above, you'll see that the seal is illustration No. 3 (Steve boxed it in). There is no No. 3 included with the kit. This is consistent with what someone else reported in one of the VW NGs . . .

When I asked Steve about it a month ago, this was his reply:
glenlloyd wrote:If you're talking about the seal I've "squared" then yes, the kit I have does have this seal. If it's not this item then I don't know because I
can't ID the actual "shaft seal" in question.

Then again my kit is not viton, it's nitrile. All of the bits are black . . .
So Steve's kit came with a shaft seal (he thinks), even though it's not listed in the Parts List.
Actually, the DGK-126 has other items not listed on the parts list. I opened it up again when I was home yesterday and had intended on bringing it back with me to take some photos..but alas I forgot it.

The parts lists does not mention six copper gaskets that are clearly included. The only items of quantity six (6) in the list are the plastic caps and some other gasket that is not listed as being copper. Again it also includes the shaft seal too which it doesn't list. There may be other items as well, but I can verify that the kit was completely sealed when I got it. I will remember to bring it with next time.

What I need to do now is query one of the online kit sellers for a list of the included items in the DGK-126 kit they sell and see what they say. Also, it would be good to find out what other kits they can sell and the components of those kits. Also, to verify whether they are viton or not.

I'm ready to send you money. PayPal or MO? Do I have your address?

The seals are in from Marco! Be warned, they are black. Everything in the order says Viton. I checked with a local seal house and they said brown used to be common for inch sized viton seals and green for metric viton. They also said black is getting to be common in Viton now. He said it is just a matter of what color they choose to dye the rubber. My local seal shop was unable to source these even now that I have a part number to reverse engineer.

The seals are marked as follows:

PIANTK 4482 TC 20 31 7

I have been unable to find any reference on this seal yet. If somebody had their heart set on brown I'll understand if they don't want the seals now. As for me, I intend to put one in ASAP.

For those who do want the seal either post or PM me and we'll get it going.

You can email me at asavage@iname.com. How do you want it?

I'll want mine shipped to the work address that you used before. I want four or five. I'm assuming they run about $9 or $10 ea after shipping?

$9.00 each will be fine if I can ship by U.S. mail.
Paypal would be fine with me, as would a money order. A check would be O.K. too as long as it is somebody who has been on the forum a while. In other words, if your first post is to ask me to send a seal because the check is in the mail, you might need to be patient. If you want to mail me something just post on this thread and I'll PM my address to you.

So, viton seals can be black. Good info. I've been buying viton off-n-on since 1977, and I'm used to brown. Now I'll have to get used to other things!

Yeah, I would feel better if I could look this seal up in a catalog and read Viton in the description, but I can't find any reference for the manufacturer. The quality looks good to me, and I have no reason to think they are not Viton. Just being anal I guess.
