SD22 engine low power up steeps?

SD diesels were widely available in the US in the 1981-86 Datsun/Nissan 720 pickups, and in Canada through '87 in the D21 pickup.

SD22 engine low power up steeps?

#1

Post by byrdlova »

hey yall,

Ant here. I am new to the SD22 world.my truck leaks oil under the exhaust mani. I think its a coming from the head. I have little power up steep hills& sum white smoke at start ups.The engine sounds good when running but no power up hills is scary. I want to rebuild the head and check compression for the engine status.Any tips for a rookie to watch out for?

Brand new trany in this truck so even more reason to restore.

Ant

Thankz for all yalls time

The oil pressure line to the vacuum pump on the alternator is a common oil leak point. As is the valve cover gasket.

Valves are not a big problem on the SD22. You may want to adjust the valves lash, and perform a compression test.
