Engine test bed

I want to build a basic set to test some LD28's I have, similar to what is being used in the link below. Can anybody give any pointers as to what I should do with regards to the fuel supply and electrical system?

Do you have a running engine? That'd be the way to start cuz you count the wires and hoses and make it like that.

Unfortunately both engines I have were removed from the vehicles some time ago. Hence the plan to run them before they go into their new home.

FUEL: Fill a 5 gallon fuel can with diesel. Get an outboard motor fuel line from any marine outlet. Attach the outlet side of the line (there will be an arrow on the priming bulb) to a simple, see-thru fuel filter and another line from the outlet of the fuel filter to the injection pump. Drop the inlet side of the fuel line into the fuel can. Run a second line from the outlet on the fuel return line back to the fuel can. Squeeze the fuel bulb until fuel comes out of the return line.

ELECTRICAL:
Battery Cables:
Run a battery cable from the positive terminal of a battery to the large bolt on the starter solenoid and a second battery cable from the negative battery terminal to a ground on the engine.

14 ga. Wiring:
Run a wire from the battery to an alligator clip on a wire long enough to reach the injection pump.

Elegant Plan:
Build a little panel with a toggle switch and two push buttons. Run a wire from the positive battery terminal to the switch and two buttons.
1. Run a wire from the toggle switch to electrical terminal on the fuel injection pump.
2. Run another wire from one push button to the small terminal on the starter solenoid.
3. Run the last wire from the other push button to the metal strap that connects to the glow plugs.

EXHAUST: The video you linked appears to have no exhaust provision at all. You could probably find some flexible steel tubing at a hot rod store and rig something up or just go bear as in the video. I'd probably go with some kind of tubing just to get the exhaust out of the way.

START:
Attach the wire on with the alligator clip to the metal strap connecting the glow plugs for 15-20 seconds, then move the clip to the small terminal on the top of the fuel injection pump, and use and old screwdriver to short between the large positive terminal on the starter and the small terminal.

Elegant Plan:
Turn the toggle switch on, push the glow plug button for 15-20 seconds and then push the starter button.

TRULY ELEGANT PLAN:
Add a radiator, oil pressure and temperature gauge.

Better be a skookum switch, the GPs will draw about 70-90 amperes steady-state, and about triple that for inrush.
Attach the wire on with the alligator clip to the metal strap connecting the glow plugs for 15-20 seconds . . .
The GPs in the LD28 won't stand that long for glow. Keep it to twelve secs or less
