Injection pump timing

Got the pump re-sealed. Cost me $275 and a trip to midway.
Now Ive got the pump back in, the pulley installed(not shown in image), the engine at TDC, and the timing/lift gauge in the port. I just dont understand the 23 cog concept because I see no timing marks on the pulleys. Does it mean the key-way?

okay I looked closer and saw the marks. They look like punch marks.
I did the 23 cog gap and set the pump:

Help with the next step would be greatly appreciated! :D

So now I'm looking at this gauge scratching my head:

90 mark passed big 2 with engine at TDC

I'll go ahead and lock her down here... then spin the motor over twice and check it again.

I've got it running finally.
There is a solenoid on the output side of the pump which allows fuel to enter the pump.
For some reason, mine was not getting +12v so I jumped wires and got the engine cranked, but I did NOT have the intake tube/throttle body installed so the idle was through the roof. It did run, but only a few seconds. In the images shown now, the intake is installed and I'm working on getting anything else resolved to have this little tank running again soon

Nice photos of your ???? "journey" through this.

Looks like a huge PITA to deal with only because of the lack of room.

Did you find the cause of no power to the fuel shut off solenoid ?

Thanks!
Well I found a burnt fuse today.... But I dont have one to replace it...
I also found no power going to the RPM sensor on the pump.
Prolly why the engine goes WOT once it starts up.
I got to fix a few things first... not sure if its just a bad ground or what...

Engine fires right up but goes to WOT. Can't figure out why... Ive adjusted the idle screw all the way back... dont know what else to do. Does the rpm sensor wire leads supposed to have power? Niether of my wires going to the rpm sensor have power

It sounds like when they re-sealed the pump they put the rack ( or whatever its referred to in a distributor type pump ) in backwards.

The RPM sensor is only for the EGR system, has not voltage at its connectors to speak of (well under 1 volt), and does not affect the RPM at all.

Hello All.
First post

I have same problem, like described but with TD27 - if RPM sensor don't work, engine stop just few second after start, maybe some way RPM cut off fuel selenoid on pump. Disconect oryginal cable, connect +12 on selenoid from aku over some fuse and start engine.

There also will be a RPM boost (i think) - works when engine are cold/AC are enabled.
Was on Zexel pump, TD27 with mechanical pump.

This was my expirience with different engine, I have also CD17 but without EGR, just fuel selenoid.
Diesel:
- CD17 84',
- TD27 93',
- ETI27T 04' + LPG injection (electronic pump + TD27),
- ETI28T 98' + LPG injection (similar to LD28->TD28->ETI28T),
- YD25 06' CR engine.
