Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel Article I

SD diesels were widely available in the US in the 1981-86 Datsun/Nissan 720 pickups, and in Canada through '87 in the D21 pickup.

This seems like a good place to post this, so here goes:

Interesting info, lots of big words.

Several things stick out in that nationwide US fuel sampling back in 2003:

1). Total Aromatic Content: 16-46 (many high numbers)
2). Cetane across the USA spanned 44 to 57 (many low numbers)
3). Sulfur spanned 23 to 416 (not okay for aftertreatment)
4). HFRR is a fairly new lubricity testing sequence. Seems the higher the number, the lower the lubricity performance. According to Bosch, 460 µm is the lowest acceptable number for average use in diesel fuel systems having rotary or common rail fuel delivery systems.

Nothing mentioned about inline pumps.

I would enjoy reading a more current bulletin like this from Bosch.

In the meantime and without more current information, I'm staying on lubricity additive band wagon.

OK, who's playing with PS now?
Al,

I have been using PS for 2-1/2 years. Specifically I have been using Part number 1025, "Diesel Fuel Supplement + Cetane Boost With SlickDiesel" for the last 10 tank fulls of #2 diesel (past 16 months or so), and I love it!

I think I was using PS's DieselKleen at first and then switched to "Diesel Fuel Supplement + Cetane Boost With SlickDiesel".

Don't leave home without it! 8)

Mike

PS in that context meant "PhotoShop", not PowerService.

I sell (in 2oz, 4oz, and 8oz generic poly bottles) the PS Arctic Express Biodiesel AntiGel additive, for the last two years, for folks who purchase biodiesel at our biodiesel distribution trailer, so I'm passing familiar with the product. But I get some of the same benefit just by using B99 neat: improved lubricity, improved emissions, much improved cetane rating.
