SD22 question (720 4WD factory SD22?)

SD diesels were widely available in the US in the 1981-86 Datsun/Nissan 720 pickups, and in Canada through '87 in the D21 pickup.

I have some sump photo's - is there someone I can mail them to who would like to host them

mani, I appreciate your having taken the time to get these pics to us. For me, this is the first time I've seen the Nissan factory way of adapting the SD engine for 4WD.

all,
There are some unique things with the 4wd sd22 720, like to remove the gearbox the FSM says to remove transfer case and front diff . same for engine. I take out diff + suspension cross members then push diff forward . floor is cut a little behind gearstick allowing gearbox to backup into cabin enough to drop front down

That is one weird looking oil pan! But if the oil pickup is in the bottom there you should would get good slosh protection.
