Fuel line routing?

SD diesels were widely available in the US in the 1981-86 Datsun/Nissan 720 pickups, and in Canada through '87 in the D21 pickup.

Fuel line routing?

#1

Post by Glegor »

any one know how the fuel lines are run in the engine room? 81 datsun SD22

bought the truck and some tweeker stole all the rubber fuel lines off it.
there is an inlet to the primer, im assuming that thats where you hook up the feed line from the tank?
then theres an outlet on the primer. assuming that goes to the fuel filter?
and a line out of the filter to the line that runs to the front of the pump? or is that the return line out of the pump?

this is definitely not a VW diesel.. and im SO lost..

im new to nissan diesels, but not diesels in general.. ive been building VWs for a while now..

Out of the fuel filter to the inlet of the pump and the line off the fuel rail that is hooked to the fittings under the high pressure lines to the injectors back to the tank ( return )

Problem with being retired is that you never get a day off.

wheres the pump inlet?

whats the 2 lines pointing towards the fender well?

theres a feed line to the primer. and a line coming off the primer. then only one other line on the front of the pump..

where the heck is the pump inlet??

please bear with me.. im a bosch VE guy..

(a picture of an 81 or so SD22, a shot of the fuel lines would probably get me running..)

and the return line from the INJ's is still there and hooked up to the top of the fuel filter, then out of the OVF from the fuel filter to the return line to the tank..

i want a VE pump BAD!!!

I do not see the firewall mounted filter that my 82 has. Maybe the 81 did not have it.

Correct, 1981 is the only year that does not have the firewall-mounted prefilter. See The 720 Fuel Filters thread for more info.
