I have a 1985 sd23 with the bosch VE rotary pump.
can anyone tell me if the Mitsubishi mj triton 94 model 4d56t pump can be used as a replacement?
I have been offered the whole engine as it has a broken cam belt. But it's a long drive from here and I don't know anything about this particular engine or it's injector pump.

without seeing it its hard to determine. If the fuel pump is belt driven then I would say doubtful. Depending on how the sprocket for the belt drive is fitted and shaft of the pump.
There are as many bosch VE style pumps as there are engines.

Is yours pooched ?
The Nissan SD25 VE pump would be a closer match and not even sure if that would work

The VE-style IPs do wear out. The good news is that they can still be rebuilt.
