Wish I would have known that, I have a set of new strut inserts I've been looking to sell cheap, or I also have a set of OE strut components that would only require new oil to use.

Score!
I drove two hours to get to a JY in Lakewood that a NWDE member mentioned has a 720 w/SD22 diesel (it does), but two rows behind it is a 1984 Maxima Sedan gasser. Brown leather interiour (not in terribly good condition), and I pulled the glovebox for you. I paid something under $10 for it. Dave, email me (asavage@iname.com) your shipping address, and I'll put it in the post on Tuesday -- why not Monday? Because I spent every dollar in my pocket and came within $6 of depleting my debit account -- JYs do that to me.

From the '84 Sedan:
Rust-free tan/yellow Sedan has NO rust, none whatsoever! Driver's fender crunched such that the driver's door won't open all the way. Front tires worn into the cord on the inside edge.

Perfect "chrome" grille, the late one that has "NISSAN" molded into it. Very good headlight surrounds, a little moss in the driver's side one but no visible cracks. Good '83-style hood emblem. The brown armrests are a different shade of brown than the '83 brown.

Bought three alloy wheels off of it -- fourth one missing. $17/wheel. No caps, dammit! The GB. and the RF wheel arch trim for Steve.

Salvy [edit: I meant Caxambu]: it has a perfect front bumper. I ran out of cash, you'll have to pull it yourself. I'll email you directions off-list. Rear bumper is shot, but taillights are near-new condition.

A good haul. I'll address the speedo in the thread that mentions the 125 MPH speedo on '84s, and the SD22 parts over in the SD forum.

Al, I'm confused and I do need a bumper but I actually need the rear for my car. My front is in alright shape, but wouldn't hurt to replace. Would you happen to be talking to someone else about this front bumper instead of me? If the yard is two hours away from you I wish I could pull it for myself, but I don't live in Washington state. Remember I'm in Pennsylvania? Not sure if you meant to refer it to me or somebody else here. Oh yea and you should buy that 720 diesel out of the junkyard if you can buy whole vehicles and if it happens to be in decent shape.

[bangin' head on desk]
I'm so excited, I mixed up yours and Carimbo's names. Very sorry.

The rear bumper was no good. I wish I'd known you need a rear, because I sent one to the JY last Sunday. It had a perfect rear bumper. I can't know it all though.

They won't sell the whole truck. I could buy the whole engine w/all accys. for $150, but I have to pull it, and frankly it had a lot of miles on it and looked to be blowing some oil, but it might have lit off OK. The coolant was very milky, never a good sign. I pulled off what I could. I've just advertised over on a local Datsun forum, looking for someone to pull the trans for $40 -- JY charges $60 + tax for the trans, so for $100 plus a day of my time plus 200 miles of fuel I could have a spare SD trans, which when put that way doesn't sound like such a hot deal, but it's a disease.

Al S.

Al, no problem on the mix up I totally understand. I just wanted to clarify for clearing it up. Oh well about the rear bumper, what ya gonna do I guess. I can see why they won't sell the whole truck, I've found that only every few junkyards you go to will sell you a whole vehicle. I can talk from experience because I've bought two diesel vehicles out of local junkyards before. That's unfortunate that they won't sell it as a whole unit. But regardless it does have good parts being a factory diesel.

No, and no. Do you want it? I might be able to get someone to pull it. I got a price sheet for that yard, and they get $13 for a grille -- any grille. Carimbo will likely have to go get that front bumper, and he could possibly snag the grille. It really is in perfect condition. I'd have loved to get the headlight surrounds too, but . . .

Carimbo, are you listening?

If the grille is in perfect condition and the tailights (assuming this is a sedan) are near new in appearance - and nobody else wants them - and somebody happens to be going back, I wouldn't mind having them.

Let me know, get me a quote...

I know the grille is perfect. The taillights I didn't look at real closely, but I did more than glance, and they looked very, very good. I'd say they were the best Sedan taillights I've ever seen.

I have the price sheet from the JY: Grille = 12.50, taillights = 12.50 ea side (truck stuff is about 50% more). Tax is about 8.4%. Figure in shipping and something for Carimbo's time and you are there. That's assuming Carimbo is willing -- he's in West Seattle, and Lakewood is a bit of a drive for him, perhaps 30 miles (?), but he's just gotta get that front bumper. He's been looking for one for months.

I am a looong ways away at about 100 miles, and it's not all highway miles either, so I try to limit the number of trips I make that way. Also, I tend to overspend when I get there :)

Sorry, just got back after a full tight-schedule work weekend. Al, thanks for the headsup on the Lakewood JY info-- sometime this week I will make a trip there to pull the front bumper for sure, and rear tail lights and grille for whoever needs them.

That JY is now open until 7pm.

Caxambu, would you mind reading this post? Would you be interested? The black/silver 720 diesel is almost exactly two cars (one row) north of the '84 Maxima.

I'd also like the four injectors from the 720 diesel. I didn't have a large enough tool to remove them. Philip, do you know what size a socket/wrench is required.
