Hi, and request for information

Discuss (and cuss) the Nissan LD-series OHC Six diesel engine, popularly available in the US in 1981-83 Datsun/Nissan Maxima Sedans & Wagons.

Hi, I recently bought an LD28 engine which I believe was fitted to a Nissan Maxima and not the Laurel that are more commonly found here in the U.K. The engine was retro fitted into a Range Rover and the owner had never got the engine to run. I bought the engine from him and have discovered the reason for the none running being down to the injector pump pulley being broken. My question is does anyone have any ideas as what I could do for a replacement. I have tried quite a few places here in the U.K. but with no luck. Is it possible to fit a pulley from a different type of VE pump? Any help and suggestions will be greatly received.
Regards, David.

The LD20 uses the same pulley. There are likely others as well, but I don't know. Have you inquired at a diesel fuel injection specialty shop rather than an ordinary auto parts supplier? The specialty shop would be far more likely to have a used pulley, or suggest an alternate.

I have never heard of the pulley failing before.

If you can't find one there, somebody here may be willing to sell a spare. Not sure how complicated it would be, given the international nature of the transaction.

Hi, the LD28 wasn't available in the U.K. so even the specialist diesel companies couldn't help me. The LD20 was available in this country so I guess I'll try there first. If anyone does have a spare they would be willing to part with, I could pay through Paypal to make the transaction easier. Name your price!!

LD20 and LD28 are common in europe.mostly france the northern states.dont let people tell you they dont exist.Laurel engine is almost the same cedric is similar-normally a different sump..

LD20II and RD28 timing pulley are similar but the morse taper may need to be modified.cam pulley is the same teeth but the center is different

I had a LD20T injector pump on a LD20II-the key is different size in width.

I agree, the LD28 was available in mainland Europe but here in the U.K. it didn't see the light of day.
