CL Denver - 81 diesel maxi wagon

Buy it, sell it, negotiate, haggle, drag it out from under the workbench or behind the garage and make it someone else's problem!

1981 Datson Maxima Diesel Wagon (Now known as Nissan Maxima). Only 150,000 miles, a baby as far as a diesel engines go. This is a rare find! Ready to run biodiesel. Clean interior, body in great shape, power windows, power locks, A/C and heat work. Runs great. Email for pics.

* Doesn't say if it's AT or MT (but AFAIK there were NO MT Wagons)

* Thought you wanted a Sedan?

* '81 is a weirdy: 3N71b (no OD, no lockup converter). However, swapping in an '82 L3N71b should be a bolt-in with no changes (speculation, but even so).

See the MY Differences Section of the FAQ. Well, there's not much there for 81-82 changes.

AFAIK, we have no '81 810/Maxima owners here.
Regards,
Al S.

Fort Collins.

50 mi north of Denver.

Let me know if you're interested in it Matt. I saw the ad, and thought about for about 15 seconds. There is no way I could shoehorn another car onto my property. 8)

It sounds like a reasonable vehicle, and it is within reach of some of our members so at least you might have a chance to preview the car via someone else. There is however that 3N71B trans issue that I would not care for it if were an automatic, and the probability of that being so is quite high.

No, it is the automatic I want. Personally, I love the 5 speed, but I could use a backup car for my wife. She can't (won't) drive a stick. My mom drives my lower mileage 5 speed and uses the high mileage for a backup. Spare parts stock is a must in order to keep these cars going, and an automatic diesel Maxima would still have a high amount of commonality. Also, I find these cars decent to work on and have accumulated some knowledge and experience with them. Plus, I have this forum as a resource. That is why I want another one.

I may well take you up on that. I emailed the seller asking for pictures, but have not heard back. If I get pictures and like what I see, you may get to see a diesel Maxima.

Let me know if / when you hear back from the seller.

I'd jump at a chance to run up there and look at it.

Lots!

I tried e-mailing the seller this morning indicating that I am local and would like to possibly see the car.
