Never knew they made an SD16, looks to be a 3 cylinder? Lots of eye candy for those of us that like engine swaps....
On edit: Click on "Lot Catalog" in upper right, then keep paging to find the Nissans....

It is torture to look at. Pure torture.
I think this LD 28 has a turbo.
Have a look
I'd think the LD20 would fit in an 80 something Nissan PU. HP to weight might leave a little to be desired though.

Ive been looking for so long.
i wanted a cyl head and manifolds for years.
http://www.dovebid.com/assets/display.a ... ID=ptu1211
interesting they used a turbo exhaust manifold.
LD20 in a pickup would be good as a slow delivery vehicle.
these car engines are old 910 bluebird taxi engines.
some of these are good for 3200 rpm.thats allmost 60mph.
the L20A engine is a cedric taxi motor.

Yeah, it's got a turbo.goglio704 wrote:It is torture to look at. Pure torture.
I think this LD28 has a turbo.

But it has neither the '83 filtration/cooler, nor it appears the typical VE turbo boost compensation diaphragm housing.

Since it's got the Atsugi PS pump, it was evidently in a vehicle, not an irrigation pump and probably not a forklift.
An LD20 would certainly have a wider torque range than the SD22!goglio704 wrote:I'd think the LD20 would fit in an 80 something Nissan PU. HP to weight might leave a little to be desired though.
The automotive LD28 is good for at least 4400 RPM; I don't know why the LD20 wouldn't turn at least that.davehoos wrote:some of these are good for 3200 rpm
With 199 engines being auctioned, more than half of which are not Nissan, it looks more like a liquidation (going out of business) than a thinning.goglio704 wrote:. . . Jesco? You've probably seen the thread that links to their auction. They seem to be auctioning a bunch of their engines right now. Not sure if they are getting out of Nissans altogether or just thinning the herd.
This is the one that piques my interest: a brand-new industrial LD28:

It appears to have the rear sump that Ray has talked about.

For comparison, an '82 Maxima sump:

How about the SD22 sans oil cooler!

Some of the LD20s have no damper, some are missing the water pump, and at least one has had the injection lines smashed into the oil filter!
Here's another rear sump LD28:

How about that CD17 Sentra engine?

my bluebird and skyline with old japanese LD20T sat on the no load limiter around 3500.DOWN HILL.3.9-4.1 rear axle around 70 mph.
level ground LD20T overdrive auto around 80-85 MPH [skyline wagon 4N71B 4.11:1 1280 kg] 910 wagon with manual was around 135 kmh.
i would think with a 720-D21 chain drive LD20 you be looking for tail wind at 50+ mph.but at suburban speeds it would be good.
my LD20II has a old turbo IP and light flywheel. with home guess tuning. It screams.
this just looks like a stocktake sale, most of this stuff is used or seconds.
the ld20 look mid 80's surplus japan taxi fleet engines.the sd16 look like cyl heads have been robbed, this is a worry, wonder if there are warranty dramas..the mid oil pan LD28 are most likely cedric[comercial] engines.i recently seen a patrol on web fitted with a LD28T conversion the same as the one pictured im guessing there jap imports out of station wagons.
what part of CA is this site.what a guess what sale price may be.
frieght will cost me lots.

I take it the SD22 doesn't rev as high as an LD?asavage wrote:An LD20 would certainly have a wider torque range than the SD22!
One of the LD20's has the SAE bellhousing on it. That would give me an LD20 to play with and and SAE LD series bellhousing. I shouldn't think about this stuff! I don't know anything about the auction house. I wonder if the final sale price is available to the public or registered users or if only the winner knows the final price?

I have never actually bought anything from Dovebid, but I have watched lots. You can see the final price for a few days after the auction ends. As far as I can tell they are reputable. At one time I was interested in swapping a 4bt Cummins into a 1/2 ton full size Chevy and there is a Yahoo group for 4bt swaps. Several people from that group bough old Frito Lay vans with 4bt's in them from Dovebid and didn't have any problems. You have got to read the fine print very carefully though, that is where their fees are hidden. Also they are much more like a traditional auction than eBay. YOU are expected to pick the item up or make all shipping/loading arrangements, THEY are hands off.

I noticed that - and a buyer's premium too.

Whew, the site's a mess.
I was going to watch some of these auctions. I recall the auction for some being 23-Jun. I just went back to the site, they have seriously got a scrambled database. Click on an LD20 and get an Isuzu. Click on an Isuzu and get an SD33T but with Lombardini description. Removal date for 03-Jul to 13-Jul, but auction 17-Jul! A real mess.
It looks as if they've added twice as many engines, and moved the auction to 17-Jul.
I read through the "Terms and Conditions" and it's
* 16% Buyer Premium
* $25 registration fee
* They can withdraw an item from auction even after bidding has closed
* They can withdraw an item from auction if the bidding doesn't go high enough (even without a Reserve price set)
Things like that. You don't pay on time, they resell the item and charge you for storage and reselling fees. You need to be serious if you bid with these folks.
Most disturbing to me at this point is the moving back of the auction date.

Here's a list of all 80 Nissan engines at auction. With about five hours to go, it does not appear that anyone has bid on any of the 80 Nissan engines.

Quite a few of the LD20 engines sold, all in the $300 (bare longblock) to $660 range, except the one LD20 with the industrial bellhousing that went for $760.
The SD genset (mechanical gov.) engine went for just over $1000.
