This time, I prefered to take 2 hours on a plane than taking 2 days on a Datsun.
A long friend ferried me around in a new Jeep Unlimited 4x4. During the 5 days, I rode up to Timberline lodge on the Mt. Hood (6,100 feet). Snow? Yes, starting at 1600 feet ! Weather at the lodge was 21 degrees, snowing, and winding at about 30 mph. It was only 1/10th mile from the parking to the lodge. I'm NOT been up to that kind of exertion !! Thought I was going to die!

That reminds me of a trip to Portland I once made in winter. I drove out the Columbia River Gorge, got out of the car into an east wind, and almost collapsed, it was so cold.
These days the weather in N. Cal. is plenty cold enough for this old guy.

I was in South Pasadena for almost a week over the holidays. Highs 65°-75°F. Had to run the A/C most days. Nice weather to take my step-grandmother for walks
Truth be known ... 'winter' to 'spring' is the best time for snowbirds to visit southern Calif. I had two nights with a low of 36 degrees ( dec 27, 28 ). It's been mid 40's since. Hahahah. Days +/- 70 degrees.
We "SoCals" don't need A/C until about 90 degrees ... unless you're one of those beach surfers. But drop to 50 degrees starts and I'm starting up the furnace. Even my Calif Datsun starts complaining at 40 degrees or less.
We've been SO depressed over ... standing in all the lines getting their presents returned or exchanged.
Speaking of that, I bought a GPS. Will be interesting to see what turns up from eBay.
