LD28 Forklift sighting

Last day at work (took a months leave), was hanging out and I wanted to find out what was under the hood or seat of the nissan forklift that was there, i really never thought that it had a ld28 in it, i thought it could be some kind of newer model 4 cyl, or the sd2x. Well it did have a ld28 in it, it was propane converted too, but it was crammed in there, it ran alot of the length of the forklift.

Sure as hell was a good forkift though, it was white with red and blue pinstripes with the word nissan printed under the seat, with plenty of lifting power, you can really push the thing and the pumps gave out before the engine did.

If it runs on propane, it's much more likely to be an L2x (ie gasser-based), rather than an LD2x (diesel-based).

While large industrial diesel prime movers and some transit buses have been converted from diesel to CNG, it was to meet specific emissions requirements, plus the CNG grant money to bolster conversion costs. Outside of this artificial incentivization, I don't know of anyone converting diesels to propane.

Mabye it was CNG, well it was one or the other because it had the tank on it, when I return from my LOA ill take another look at it and get some numbers and possibly some pics too

Definately not diesel but nissan diesel engines do show up in some Komatsu forklifts.

I've heard older ones had LD series and the newer ones have sd22.

The SD22 dates back to about 1964 in forklift use. Since the LD series seems to begin about 1980, I'd think it would be the reverse.

factory LPG engine from nissan are common.there better made engines with improved valves.these a carburetor style mixer with lots of add on mixture controls.
L18PL20BP and L20AP,L28P,Z18P ,NA20P,CA20P,
RB20P-Y44P[these are also CNG].i like to know whats around.

there are lots of small nissan fork lifts in this area.my only experience is the older patrol 6 cyl P40 stationary engine[i think these are 3.6 liter so you think they should be P36] and SD 4 cylinders.the 90's nissan i drove at landrover had a big 4 cyl i think may have been an early 3 bearing [H] engine in 1960's cabstars or some other brand of engine.

i believe the newer big 4 cyl diesels are used in a lot of korean equipment.
i havnt seen any.
