Fuel line measurements

SD diesels were widely available in the US in the 1981-86 Datsun/Nissan 720 pickups, and in Canada through '87 in the D21 pickup.

Fuel line measurements

Post by lacolocho »

I'm going to run an '82 KC on biodiesel, so I want to change all the fuel lines to viton ones.
So I need all the lengths and inside diameters, as below
Does anyone have this written down somewhere so I don't have to go measure them all?

here's the copy of what they want:

Engine Compartment

* length/ID of fuel hose coming from steel line to the fuel filter
* length/ID of fuel hose from fuel filter to lift pump (from fuel filter to injection pump if no lift pump is present)
* length/ID of fuel hose from lift pump to injector pump (disregard if no lift pump is present)
* length/ID of fuel hose from injector to injector
* length/ID of fuel hose from injection pump return fitting to fuel filter
* length/ID of fuel hose from fuel filter return to steel return line

Under the vehicle:

* visual confirmation that the majority of the fuel line under the vehicle is steel or other non-rubber material
* length/ID of fuel hose coming from tank to steel supply line
* length/ID of fuel hose coming from steel return line to tank

Any other pertinent fuel hose information!! (i.e., any rubber fuel hose elsewhere on the vehicle that I neglected to mention).

I used McMaster-Carr green viton lines, as pictured here. I doubt I would use those lines again, but at the time the were the only verified lines that were known to hold up. Now, there are more choices. I don't think that I detailed the exact lengths. You can easily estimate the underhood lines just by looking at them.

At the tank end, you need about a foot of line for each of the two hoses.
