SteveS was kind enough to send me some pics of the Maxima. Thought I'd share.
P.S.

Al, you wouldn't happen to have a part number would you? No hurry. I hope that part is still available from Nissan. I'm hoping to make it down there soon. Probably not this weekend, but next - I hope. Employer expects me to do things or they stop paying me - you know how it goes.

That's a very nice looking sedan, the paint must be two shades of silver. I'm waiting for the troubleshooting and discovery when you get this home and start working on it.

steve a
It will be tough not to tear into the front end while I'm still on the road.

If I was forced to guess, I'd guess that the first number is the one I'd order, but

Can you believe it? I'm pretty much got mine trained (employers can be hard to train, but the results are rewarding).
Thanks for the numbers Al. As for FAST, I don't know. It doesn't sound fun, is it worthwhile?

I'm not sure, but it's better than nothing, which is pretty much where you are now. It doesn't seem to screw up the rest of the system, that's something.

I started with nothing, and I still have most of it. I need a fiche reader, or better yet, a fiche scanner.

I found that I have an NOS one, the latter part number. I went looking for it and actually found it the second place I thought it might be, which is pretty good considering how much Maxima junk I have an over the four disparate locations I keep it all.
As usual, click on image for larger:
I would put its OD at just a smidge over 2-17/32" and under 2-9/16". Hope that helps.
Why are these centers missing so often? I've never really looked into it. The retention system must be poor. Is there a good way to improve on it?

Did you click on the image to see the larger version? Check out the plastic fingers that are supposed to grab the rim.
Now imagine plastic outgassing over 20+ years, and the tire jockey trying to figure out how to get the rim on his machine.
Personally, I'd RTV them in, between tire changes. A dab or two of clear RTV on the backside sounds about right. You usually can't buy clear RTV at your FLAPS though. I forget where I bought my last tube, probably at the hardware store.
