Body is great. Engine and tranny are total unknowns but they don't make any suspicious noises and there's very little smoke. Electrical on the other hand is totalled.

You got to beat it into submission, make it fear you. I always talk dirty to my vehicles. Remember this.

My wife calls it "Aunt Farty." I have had it for 5 weeks and I can't get 200 miles between repairs. Two days ago the starter I replaced on the third or foutrh day I had the truck went kaput. I got it out, it was full of oil from the constant leaks. I cleaned it, and tested it. It worked fine on the bench. I put it in the truck and tested it again. Worked fine. So I bolt everything else in and close the hood. Guess what, no worky. Thats why I claim it hates me.

Beating it into submission may be the next move.

You really can't ask electrics to perform reliably in a dirty oil bath.

One thing at a time, you can beat back the forces of entropy.

Whether it's worth it or not is an individual thing. There are hobbies, and then there are dead horses. I am walking away from a running van I've owned for many years, because although I've maintained it reasonably well, it is just plain worn, and although I could (somewhat easily) continue to repair it as needed, scrapping it makes more sense to me at this stage in my life.

Yes, the '82 Wagon I bought in Oct-96 (I found the bill of sale in the car when I was cleaning it). I took out the rear seat bottom night before last, found two mouse nests. Put the seat upstairs into storage, sprayed Lysol all over the metal floor, wiped up as much as I could.

The car still stinks, but it's a different stink now.

It sure drives nice, I'd forgotten.

Big update time:

I got some leather seats from a LeBaron installed and now my wife will ride in the truck with me. I also welded in new floors. And by floors I mean scraps of metal I had lying around. I also put in a huge rubber mat from tractor supply instead of carpet. My dad gave ma an old computer desktop audio system that I used to make the worlds cheapest sound system. $12 in wires from Radio shack total.

I also got a donor for the two-million parts my truck needs.



She cost me $600 which is a little high for the condition but SD22s are rare around here. I think i'll be able to sell a few parts to re-coup. I'll be bringing her home in a few weeks and begin removing and rebuilding the engine. I'll post pics.
